General Questions About Fidget & Squishy Toys

What are fidget toys?

Fidget toys are small hand-held toys designed to keep fingers busy. They can include poppers, spinners, cubes, stretchy toys, sensory rings, textured toys and squishy stress relief toys. Many people enjoy them for calming, focus, relaxation, sensory play and fun.

What are squishy or squashy toys?

Squishy toys, sometimes called squashy toys, are soft tactile toys that can be squeezed in the hand. They may contain air, foam, gel, beads, slime-like filling or other soft materials depending on the product. They are designed to be gently squeezed, not bitten, stretched aggressively, heated or punctured.

Are fidget toys good for stress relief?

Many people find fidget toys helpful for stress relief, calming and keeping their hands occupied. Squishy toys and tactile sensory toys can be relaxing because they provide a repetitive hand movement and satisfying texture. Results vary from person to person and they should be used responsibly.

Are sensory toys suitable for autism or ADHD?

Sensory toys and fidget toys are often used by people with autism, ADHD, anxiety or sensory processing needs because they can provide tactile feedback and help with focus or regulation. Every person is different, so please choose toys based on age, ability, sensory preferences and safe use. Adult supervision is recommended for younger children and anyone who may chew, bite, mouth or misuse toys.

Are your toys suitable for children?

Many of our toys are suitable for children aged 3+ unless stated otherwise on the product page or packaging. Some products may contain small parts, loose pieces, liquid or gel filling, so they are not suitable for children under 3 years old.

Always check the product description, age guidance and packaging before giving a toy to a child.

Can adults use fidget toys too?

Yes. Fidget toys, squishy toys and stress relief toys are popular with adults as well as children. They can be used at home, at work, while studying, travelling or relaxing.

Are the toys exactly the same as the photos?

We try to show product colours, shapes and designs as accurately as possible. However, colours may vary slightly due to screen settings, lighting, photography and manufacturing batches.

Can squishy toys burst or split?

Yes, any soft squishy toy can split or burst if it is bitten, cut, punctured, pulled too hard, overstretched, heated or handled roughly. Squishy toys are designed for gentle squeezing only. If a toy becomes damaged, stop using it straight away and dispose of it safely.

Squishy Toy Safety Rules

Do not microwave Never place squishy toys, gel toys or sensory toys in a microwave. Heating can cause pressure build-up, bursting, burns or leaking.
Do not heat Keep toys away from ovens, air fryers, radiators, heaters, boiling water, hot cars and naked flames.
Do not put in mouth These toys are not edible and must never be chewed, bitten, sucked or swallowed.
Do not freeze Freezing can damage the structure of squishy toys and may cause cracking, splitting or unsafe use.
Do not puncture Keep away from scissors, knives, pins, sharp nails, pets and sharp objects.
Stop if damaged Stop using immediately if the toy leaks, splits, smells strongly, feels sticky, exposes filling or looks unsafe.
Why should squishy toys never be microwaved?

Squishy toys are not designed to be heated. Microwaving or heating gel-filled and soft sensory toys can cause the inside to become extremely hot, expand, burst or leak. This may cause burns, scalds, eye injury, skin injury or damage to property. Always use squishy toys at normal room temperature only.

Can I put a squishy toy in hot water to make it softer?

No. Do not place squishy toys in hot water, boiling water or near any heat source. Heat can damage the toy and may make it unsafe.

Can I put a fidget toy in the freezer?

No. Do not freeze squishy toys, gel-filled toys or sensory toys. Extreme cold can damage the material, affect the filling and increase the chance of splitting.

What should I do if a squishy toy leaks?

Stop using it immediately. Keep it away from children, pets, food, eyes and mouths. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water, clean the area, and dispose of the damaged toy safely. If any filling gets in the eyes or mouth, rinse carefully and seek medical advice if irritation occurs.

Are squishy toys safe to chew?

No. Squishy toys are not chew toys. They should not be bitten, sucked, mouthed or chewed. If a child or user is likely to mouth or chew toys, choose a product specifically designed and labelled as a chew-safe item instead.

Can pets play with fidget toys?

No. Fidget toys and squishy toys are not pet toys. Dogs, cats and other pets may bite, swallow, puncture or choke on them. Please store toys away from pets.

Cleaning & Care

How do I clean a squishy toy?

Most squishy toys can be gently wiped with a damp cloth and mild soap. Allow the toy to air dry fully before use. Do not soak unless the product specifically says it is suitable for water play.

Can I wash fidget toys in a washing machine?

No. Do not put fidget toys, squishy toys or sensory toys in a washing machine, tumble dryer or dishwasher unless the product instructions clearly say this is safe.

Can I use bleach or strong cleaning sprays?

No. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, alcohol sprays, abrasive cleaners and strong disinfectants. These may damage the surface, affect the material or make the toy unsafe.

How can I make my squishy toy last longer?

Use it gently, keep it at room temperature, avoid sharp objects, keep it clean, store it away from direct sunlight and do not overstretch, bite or twist it.

Product Materials, Fillings & Allergies

What are fidget toys made from?

Fidget and sensory toys can be made from materials such as silicone, rubber-like materials, plastic, foam, gel, beads, slime-style filling or fabric, depending on the product. Please check the individual product description for details where available.

Do squishy toys contain liquid or gel?

Some squishy toys may contain gel, liquid, beads, foam or slime-like filling. These fillings are sealed inside the toy and should not be accessed. If the outer skin splits or leaks, stop using the toy immediately.

Are the toys non-toxic?

Products are selected from toy suppliers and should be used only as intended. “Non-toxic” does not mean edible or chew-safe. Never put toys or fillings in the mouth, and always follow age guidance and safety instructions.

Can fidget toys cause allergies?

Some people may be sensitive to certain materials, scents, colourings, latex-like materials, rubber-like materials, plastics or surface finishes. If irritation, rash, itching or discomfort occurs, stop using the product. If you have known allergies, please contact us before ordering.

What if a toy smells strongly of chemicals?

Do not use any toy that smells unusually strong, chemical-like or unpleasant. Keep it away from children and contact us with your order details.

Age Guidance & Supervision

Are fidget toys suitable for children under 3?

No, unless clearly stated otherwise. Many fidget toys and squishy toys are not suitable for children under 3 years old due to small parts, choking hazards, fillings or the risk of mouthing and chewing.

Should children be supervised with sensory toys?

Yes. Adult supervision is recommended, especially for younger children, children with additional needs, or any child who may chew, bite, throw, overstretch or misuse toys.

Can children take fidget toys to school?

This depends on the school’s rules. Some schools allow quiet fidget toys for focus and sensory regulation, while others restrict toys that are noisy, messy, distracting or unsafe. Please check with your child’s school before sending toys into class.

Are fidget toys suitable for sensory seekers?

Many sensory seekers enjoy tactile toys, squishy toys and fidgets. However, children or adults who seek oral sensory input should not use standard squishy toys as chew toys. Choose products specifically designed for chewing if oral sensory input is needed.
